Where some of my time this summer has gone [Part 2]

during the last lecture in my cs class last semester, garcia talked about some of the r&d groups he heads, one in particular that i'm extremely interested in: UCBUGG for computer graphics people, and he mentioned this graphics software Maya. so before finals even finished i dled a trial version of Maya 6 for myself. unfortunately, i couldn't really do much with it because i didn't know how to use it, so a few weeks ago i bought another book. i'm only on chapter 4 so far, but here are the first two projects i've done:

chapter 2 -- model solar system

the book gave rough proportions for the planets and how many moons and stuff. i didn't add ALL the moons of some of the planets tho cuz i was too lazy, but all of them spin and revolve around their respective planets, and the planets all spin and revolve around the sun. =)

chapter 3 -- NURBS modeling

they gave me an outline to sketch out the axe and um.. i did stuff to make it into a 3D model. not much to say of this one i guess.

and yeah, REALLY SUPER COOL software man!!!

Holy crap, that's like hardcore software. My roommate and her boyfriend have a full version of Maya, but I dunno. They don't seem to really use it. They probably plan to, but I'd imagine it takes a lot of understanding in how a 3D plane works.
